Staunchly, vol. 24: Disco Shampoo
(Originally posted: 5/21/17)
Hi babes,
Today’s Sunday Self-Care Recipe is going to be short and sweet, because I have something very important tonight, something all daughters must at one point do—I have to take my mom to a U2 concert. I happily plan on being the youngest person there and jamming out so hard to that song from Friends. No shade: I love me some Irish dad rock.
Here is tonight's recipe:
Christophe Robin Cleansing Hair Mask with Lemon + Dolly Parton Heartbreaker
1. Christophe Robin Cleansing Hair Mask with Lemon
The idea of a mask shampoo is a little wonky, but this baby defies expectations. You slap a couple dollops of this on your wet hair, concentrating on your scalp (whatever you do: don't put this on dry hair. Christophe says you can, but when I tried that, it was impossible to wash out and my hair felt crunchy yet greasy—like a chicken-fried-steak) wait 5 to 20 minutes (the longer the better), then slowly rinse out—adding small amounts of water at a time while you lather furiously. I'm not going to lie to you: it's a process. But it gives you shiny, healthy, bouncy Legally Blonde hair—revenge hair—and that's worth all the ceremony.
2. Dolly Parton Heartbreaker
Heartbreaker is a little bit country, a little bit disco, and it may be my favorite Dolly album ever. It includes the absolutely infectious, insanely danceable "Baby I'm Burnin'" and "With You Gone," which I believe to be two of the best pop-country songs ever. This sparkly, sassy album makes the perfect accompaniment to a long, hot shower and a luxurious shampoo ceremony. The drought is over right? Live a little!
Staunchly yours,
Carey
